Project summary or content
The project intends to strengthen Women Civil Society Networks, service providers and community members for SGBV prevention, response and coordination mechanisms for effective service delivery and to empower GBV survivors to overcome their obstacles by themselves. The specific objectives to reach our goal are listed below. The specific objectives are to
- Encourage Women Civil Society Networks to initiate advocacy to minimize women’s issues.
- Strengthening government stakeholders and communities to promote and protect women’s rights.
- Strengthen GBV survivors and women vulnerable to GBV to activate and rebuild their social networks.
FOSDOO expects to strengthen Divisional and District level WCSN (Women Civil Society Network) to accelerate advocacy initiatives to fill the identified gaps in Government sectors for improving response services for survivors, influencing policy changes and strengthening GBV survivors. In addition to training and discussions with the stakeholders and duty bearers at different levels, methods like talk shows, joint initiatives and advocacy to raise voice for rights. Also, organizations and activists will support the WCSN to move forward in the advocacy initiatives to address the identified key women’s issues at the district, provincial and national level. Needed efforts have taken to set aside time to discuss women’s issues in the DCWDC discussions. Besides, the necessity to have separate meetings similar to the SGBV forum that functioned earlier will be discussed with the Government Agent and Divisional Secretaries of each location. Strengthened GBV survivors and women will able to handle the situation and overcome the barriers. Capacity building training and events that will facilitate students, teachers and community members will mobilize and motivate them to take collective action for women’s rights protection. FOSDOO believes that the experience and knowledge we gained for those projects will support the implementation of the proposed action in a better way and create a better environment for women.
