FOSDOO (Federation of Social Development Organizations) has been engaged in social protection capacity building initiatives for the past 25 years, and has been a part of all our activities through a coordinating action with the 3 following target groups:
- Women and children
- Youth
- Village-level organizations and small groups
This program includes on protection of children and women when their rights are violated, making relevant recommendations, strengthening of the village-level organizations’ activities, thereby preparing them to face/challenge social problems. The following needs are being taken into consideration during a community capacity building activities:
- Priority is being given to the basic needs and rights of the village-level communities
- Take joint initiatives without partiality.
- Support and provide assistance to activities undertaken by the community or beneficiaries.
- Networking and linking the village-level organizations and beneficiaries in initiating activities.
- By strengthening Women Civil Society Networks and Self-Help Groups they will be able to raise their voices against violence against women, enable them to receive appropriate government services, become pressure groups, support women towards economic empowerment.
- Create Self-Help Groups to motivate women to act independently, fulfil their needs on their own, and to encourage savings for their requirements instead of borrowing at high interests from other entities.
- Forge linkages and create finest networks with Provincial, District, Divisional Government structures and support in strengthening them in order to reduce or address the incidence of violence against women; further, implement activities to connect women’s organizations with Government departments.
- Provide emergency support to the survivors and facilitate psychological counseling assistance, legal advice and medical instructions to relevant departments, and undertaking collaborative activities for further help to relieve them of the harm and to enable appropriate relief.
